For publishers, editors, agents, and anyone with a book in mind.
Need a writer who knows
what he's talking about?
I've written scores of articles, edited trade magazines, produced thousands of papers, written books, and ghostwritten for people whose names you'd know. I've spent decades in cybersecurity, technology, and security operations, so I know the difference between a piece that sounds authoritative and one that survives a reader who actually understands the subject.
Tell me what you're publishing and who it's for. You don't need a finished brief; a sensible conversation is a good place to start.
A good story still needs someone who can tell it.
You can have an excellent idea and still end up with a lousy article. The same goes for books. Sometimes the research is there but the writing is flat. Sometimes the writer has a beautiful sentence and no idea whether the underlying claim is true. Neither is much use to an editor with a deadline or a publisher putting its name on the cover.
I bring the writing and the technical judgement together. I can work through difficult material, find the argument worth making, and explain it to people who weren't in the room when the experts were talking. Readers don't need to be talked down to, and a serious subject doesn't have to sound like a dissertation.
What can I write for you?
Books and long-form nonfiction
An idea, a manuscript in trouble, or a project that needs an experienced collaborator. I can help develop the argument, research it, and write prose people want to finish.
Articles and editorial features
Commissioned pieces, reported explainers, opinion and analysis, technical features, and recurring columns for magazines, trade publications, blogs, and digital publishers.
Ghostwriting and collaborative authorship
Your name and your story remain yours. I turn your ideas, interviews, and material into a coherent piece of writing, with discretion about the collaboration.
Technical and specialist writing
Cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software engineering, security leadership, governance, risk, and the uncomfortable decisions that follow when technology meets the real world.
Editing and manuscript development
Sometimes you don't need another writer. You need someone to tell you what's working, what's missing, and how to make the piece stronger without sanding off its personality.
Something I haven't listed
If it needs clear writing and real technical judgement, ask. If I'm not the right person, I'll say so and, where I can, point you to someone who is.
You don't need another generic AI article.
I'm interested in work that has something to say. I care about evidence, voice, the reader, and the argument. I can write for specialists without drowning them in jargon, or for a general audience without pretending complexity doesn't exist.
I also understand deadlines and editorial direction. If you have a house style, a particular audience, or a specific assignment, tell me. If you have an ambitious idea but no clear structure yet, we can start there. One more thing: much of what I've done can't be described in public, and I've had an intimate relationship with NDAs most of my adult life. If the collaboration needs to stay quiet, it will.
Let's talk about the assignment.
Tell me what you're publishing, who it's for, the approximate scope, your deadline, and whether you need writing, editing, or a confidential collaborator.
I read every message myself and reply in confidence.
- Publishers and editors commissioning books, features, columns, or technical pieces.
- Agents and authors with a manuscript that needs an experienced collaborator or a hard edit.
- Organisations that need specialist writing on security, AI, or risk that will hold up to scrutiny.
