For journalists, producers, editors, podcasters, and researchers.
Working on a cybersecurity
or AI story? Let's talk.
If you're trying to make sense of a cyber incident or a new AI claim, I can help you get past the jargon. I've spent thirty years in security, about twenty of them hands-on with incident response and security operations. I know how these systems are supposed to work, what tends to happen when they don't, and why the difference matters to your story.
On a deadline? Say so in the inquiry, with your outlet, the format, and when you need a response.
What can we talk about?
Cyberattacks and incident response
What investigators can establish, what remains uncertain, how containment works, and why early public claims often get ahead of the evidence.
AI security and accountability
AI agents, data exposure, model misuse, human oversight, and what organisations should be asking before putting systems into production.
Ransomware, phishing, and fraud
The mechanics that matter to the public, the decisions organisations face, and the difference between a headline and a demonstrated finding.
Security leadership and government systems
Security operations, risk, critical infrastructure, public institutions, and the realities of defending complicated organisations.
Software and engineering
How technical design decisions become security problems, and why fixing one often takes more than buying another product.
Cybersecurity education and workforce competence
Why credentials don't always translate into capability, what good training looks like, and how to recognise practical expertise.
What you'll get from me.
I'll tell you what the evidence supports, what it doesn't, and what I'd want to know before reaching a conclusion. I can translate technical issues for a general audience without making them silly. If the story involves an unfolding incident, I'll separate confirmed facts from speculation, which matters most when the people affected are still trying to understand what happened.
I won't pretend to know something I don't, and I won't turn a complicated story into a convenient sound bite at the expense of getting it right. I can also help you sharpen the questions before an interview; sometimes the most useful contribution is identifying what nobody has asked yet.
Deadlines are real. So is accuracy.
Include your outlet or programme, the subject, the format (print, audio, video, or background), and when you need a response. If you want an on-record interview, say so. If you need a background conversation first, we'll agree the terms before speaking.
For an urgent story, don't send private records, credentials, or sensitive incident data through a web form. A short description of the topic is enough to start.
Need a knowledgeable voice for your story?
Tell me what you're covering and what you need. If I can contribute something useful, I'll say so. If the evidence isn't there yet, I'll tell you that too.
The form has fields for your outlet and your deadline. I read every message myself.
- Print and digital: quotes, background, reported explainers, and fact checks on technical claims.
- Broadcast and audio: live and recorded interviews, podcasts, and panel segments.
- Research and production: pre-interview briefings and help framing the questions.
